Our perfect guide to Glorious North Devon

Perfectly situated in the centre of North Devon, the Park Hotel offers the ultimate base to explore the very best the county has to offer.

There is a wealth of long sweeping beaches, gorgeous coastlines, historic houses, National trust spots and fabulous attractions for all the family. Our guests who book directly with us are entitled to exclusive discounts at many local attractions.

Hire a bike and explore the world-famous Tarka Trail with 21 miles of traffic-free riding following the route of a disused railway line. Ask our reception team for a map of guided walks from the hotel to explore the South West Coast Path which runs the entire North Devon Coast showcasing its heritage, wildlife, geology and scenery.

Tucked away in the rolling hills is a plethora of quaint villages. Clovelly is world famous for its cobbled streets, donkeys and historic harbour. Set in Exmoor National Park, Lynton & Lynmouth boasts the highest and steepest entirely water powered railway in the world! On the Cornish border, Hartland is a timeless, unspoilt gem with many craft shops and potteries.

Historic houses, pretty villages, impressive views, coastal climbs, wild woods await. Arlington Court has a fascinating carriage museum and superb gardens. Morte Point headland is renowned for its wild beauty and seas. The dramatic river gorge and ancient woodland of Watersmeet is a great place to escape the crowds and watch for wildlife.

North Devon's dramatic coastline is home to a multitude of long sandy beaches, hidden coves and breathtaking bays. To name but a few; Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Westward Ho! boasts miles of golden sands and huge tides, Croyde Bay's famous for being one of the UK's best surf spots and Tunnels Beaches in Ilfracombe is a network of hand carved tunnels leading to unique sheltered beaches and tidal Victorian bathing pool.

North Devon's temperate climate and diverse landscape have long inspired gardeners and there is a wide variety of beautiful gardens to explore. Many also have play areas for children, cafes or shops/garden centres making them a great place for fun and relaxation. Some of our favourites include RHS Rosemoor, Hartland Abbey and Tapeley Gardens.

North Devon has a wide variety of fun-filled and interesting attractions, with all-weather family days out, award-winning zoos and intriguing museums. The Milky Way Adventure Park and The BIG sheep are large all-weather theme parks for all ages with soft-play areas, exhilarating rides and interactive experiences and more.
