Welcome to Clovelly, where visitors step back in time to another world. There is truly only one way to experience this cobbled, cliff tumbling, car-free village in North Devon, and that's by wandering down the streets yourself.
For those who have not been before, their Lobster and Crab Feast is a great excuse to visit. It's a one-day extravaganza, celebrating the lobster and crab fishing that the village still thrives off from the tiny harbour.
Upon entry to this privately owned village, guests can spend the day exploring the streets, learning about its fishing history and seeing the stunning views. Then on top of this and included in the entry price there'll be live music all day, cookery demonstrations with tastings, a prize draw for a magnum of champagne, local food and craft stalls, beer tasting, and of course plenty of freshly cooked lobsters and crabs.
A great day out for all the family, this is a chance for little ones to try shellfish for the first time. There will be a variety of crab and lobster dishes cooked directly on the quay. Or perhaps book a table at the famous Red Lion Harbour Restaurant to enjoy the delicious lobster dishes. Children will be kept entertained by street theatre, balloon modelling, event-themed games and craft activities.
Also, the National Lobster Hatchery, Padstow, will be exhibiting baby lobsters before releasing them into the sea at the beginning and end of the day.
It promises to be a great day out in a wonderful location - a must visit when in North Devon.
