Must visit Christmas markets in North Devon
Christmas spirit is filling the air and with a growing urge to shop, shop and shop some more, it’s time to consider which Christmas markets in North Devon we’ll be visiting.
North Devon Christmas markets and fayres are a delight to attend, not just for unique gifts and festive treats, but because of the community spirit involved.
Visit these markets and events to support local and independent traders. Buy gifts made in homes across the region and taste foods from newly started businesses. All whilst seeing unique places and chatting with locals about everything Christmas!
If these North Devon Christmas markets won’t get you in the festive spirit, then nothing will...

Over the two days, they’ll have stalls (under a marquee on the lawn) offering a variety of items, from local jams to home furnishings, toys to decorations, jewellery to woodwork and more.
It’s just £3 entry which covers entry to the grand Arlington house, the carriage museum and the grounds, plus the craft fair itself. National Trust members get in for free.
RHS Gardens Rosemoor - Christmas Food and Craft Fair
Near Great Torrington - 23rd, 24th, 25th November and 15th, 16th December 2018
We’d like to highlight two events from the wonderful RHS Gardens Rosemoor, who have a wide range of events taking place throughout the festive period.
In November they will be hosting their Christmas Food and Craft Fair. It promises to be a special place full of temptation and delights in the form of craft and food stalls set out in a stunning venue, surrounded by gardens and nature.
Make the most of the day by exploring the beautiful gardens and stay into the evening for the magical Garden Illuminations. It promises to be a full day of magical Christmas fun for all.
Then on the 15th and 16th December, Rosemoor invites you to pick up last minute gifts from a selection of craft stalls selling decorations, presents and general Christmas goods at their Magic of Christmas event.
These stalls can also be explored as part of the usual Rosemoor entry price, so again if you haven't seen the gardens before, now is a great time to do so.

There will be a Grinch Grotto and fairground rides too.
Then at 6pm, the Torrington Christmas lights will be turned on, followed by carols in the square.
North Devon Christmas Market
Braunton Village - 1st December 2018
The North Devon Christmas Market is now classed by many as the biggest and best outdoor festive market in North Devon - and maybe even the South West.
There will be over 150 stalls; combining arts and crafts, food and drink, games and rides. There will also be entertainment and Christmas cheer will definitely be in the air.
Running from midday to 8pm, there will be plenty of time to attend and explore the Braunton markets stalls, a perfect way to spend time on a Saturday.
Big Sheep Christmas Markets
The Big Sheep Family Attraction - 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd December 2018
The Big Sheep Christmas Market takes place every Saturday in December before Christmas.
It is split into two parts. The Food Market will be open from 9am to 1pm whilst a Craft Market will run 9am to 4pm.
Found around the stalls will be free-range turkeys, handmade gifts, organic meats, sea glass gifts, sprouts on stalks, cheeses, cakes, fudge, handmade jewellery and Christmas trees - and we're sure they'll be a lot more on offer too!
Enjoy free entry to the market - and Park Hotel guests will receive a reduced entry price to the attraction, for an enjoyable family day out at The Big Sheep.
Barnstaple Christmas Fayre and Carol Service
Barnstaple Pannier Market - 6th December 2018
The fayre, run by Barnstaple Town Council, is held in the historic Pannier Market - the focal point of the town’s high street.
Taking place between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, there will be a wide range of stalls dedicated to crafts, food and drink. Take the opportunity to pick up a special gift for special people, or enjoy a bite to eat and soak in the festive vibe.
The Carol Service will start at 6.45pm. Santa will be attending so children will be able to meet him in his grotto. Expect a giant snow globe too!
Thursday is also late night shopping in Barnstaple over the festive period, meaning the whole high street will be alive with seasonal joy, shopping and Christmas activities.
Croyde German Market (and Beirfest)
Blue Groove Restaurant - 8th December 2018
Taking place at the popular Blue Groove restaurant in the centre of Croyde village, their German-style event is another twist to the Christmas market formula.
It’s back by popular demand…combining markets stalls with German food and drink. Starting at 1pm, there will be a German-style Christmas market with locally handcrafted items, German street food and a bier tent. Expect arts, crafts and handmade Christmas tree decorations beside traditional German bier steins, gluhwein, mulled cider, bratwurst, bockwurst, currywurst, pommes, candied fruit, pretzels and roasted chestnuts.
Spanning the restaurant, its garden, Croyde Village Hall and even the village green if the weather is nice enough, there'll be plenty to keep everyone entertained and sustained!
Plus, Father Christmas (or, der Weihnachtsmann) may even make an appearance!
